About 55LL

A well-being resource that helps people keep gambling safe — or stop. We sell nothing, take no bets, and accept no operator advertising.

Our promise

How we build our tools

Our self-assessment uses the Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI), a nine-item screen developed for the Canadian Problem Gambling Index and used widely in research and public-health surveys. Scores map to the standard bands: 0 non-problem, 1–2 low risk, 3–7 moderate risk, 8+ problem gambling likely. We also offer the two-item Lie/Bet screen. These are educational screens, not diagnoses.

Our calculators use transparent, standard maths: house edge is 100% minus RTP, expected loss per spin is stake × edge, and the “100 spins” simulator draws from a weighted payout table tuned to the RTP you choose with realistic volatility. Nothing is fudged to scare you — the numbers are simply the real ones.

Where our information comes from

Guidance on this site is written to align with public-health and clinical sources including GamCare and the National Gambling Helpline (UK), BeGambleAware, the National Council on Problem Gambling (US), Gambling Help Online (Australia), and the diagnostic framing of gambling disorder in the DSM-5. Helpline and self-exclusion details are compiled from the official bodies themselves; we link out so you can verify them.

Editorial policy

An important limit

55LL provides general information and self-help tools. It is not a medical service and cannot diagnose or treat anyone. If gambling is harming you or someone you know, please contact a qualified professional or one of the free confidential services we list. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Developers

We publish a small, free, keyless helplines API so other well-being sites and apps can surface local support too. Use it freely.
